Install DiskSnap

Installation, Windows permissions and getting started.

Download

Use the Download button on the DiskSnap page, where the SHA-256 checksum is published. The file, DiskSnap-1.0.0-setup.exe, is 35.9 MiB (37,689,920 bytes) and is hosted on GitHub Releases, so the button takes you to github.com. The installer is for 64-bit Windows and includes the .NET runtime.

System requirements

Installing DiskSnap

  1. Download the installer using the Download button on the official Beige Machine website. The file itself comes from GitHub Releases.
  2. Compare its SHA-256 checksum with the value on the download page if you want to check the downloaded file is identical.
  3. Open the installer, confirm you intended to run it, and read the licence, including the Microsoft component terms.
  4. Complete Setup. Open DiskSnap from the Start menu; the installer does not start a drive operation.

Windows security

This edition is unsigned. Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning or block it. The publisher label in Setup is not a verified digital signature. Do not disable Smart App Control, antivirus or other security protections to install DiskSnap. If Windows blocks it, stop and contact Beige Machine with the exact message.

Check a download

In PowerShell, use the following command with the path to the installer you downloaded:

Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 -LiteralPath 'C:\path\to\DiskSnap-1.0.0-setup.exe'

The complete hexadecimal value must match the SHA-256 on the download page. A checksum detects a changed file; it does not provide a digital signature or prove that a download source is trustworthy.

Before using a drive

Restore, Clone and Make Bootable can erase the destination drive. Check the source and destination carefully and keep another copy of important data. DiskSnap asks for administrator permission when an operation needs it.

Read the user manual or choose a step-by-step guide.

Licences

The Start menu’s DiskSnap licences shortcut opens the terms installed with this edition. All bundled notices are in the Licences folder beside DiskSnap.exe. Font notices are also available under About → Licences.

Uninstalling

Close DiskSnap after any operation has finished. In Windows Settings, open Apps → Installed apps, find DiskSnap and choose Uninstall. Your backup files are separate from the program; keep them unless you intentionally want to delete them. Local settings and diagnostic logs may remain.
